About Us
At HOPE Family Care Center, we are dedicated to improving overall health conditions in Cicero, Indiana and surrounding communities. We assist our friends and neighbors in their ongoing growth and development throughout their lives.
Our Story
2003
HOPE is a faith based non-profit clinic founded in 2003 by Cicero Christian Church located in Cicero, Indiana.
2004
The clinic opened in May of 2004 and has since served more than 9,000 medically underserved local residents.
2009
HOPE began offering Women’s Health Services in 2009, and began offering a Mammogram Clinic through St. Vincent’s Mobile Mammogram Program in 2015.
2012
In 2012 HOPE added a specially-equipped Dental room for the treatment of dental patients. We treated more than 350 dental patients in 2023 and are on track to see nearly 500 dental patients throughout 2024.
2019
In 2019, the clinic began offering Counseling services using licensed professionals; counseling is now offered by appointment multiple times each month.

Mike Jenkins, BA, MA
Teacher/Coach (Ret.) – HHHS
Elder Emeritus – Cicero Christian Church
Mike holds degrees from Huntington College and Indiana University. He was both a teacher and a coach (football, basketball, and baseball) at Hamilton Heights High School until his retirement. Mike was Elder and Youth Minister at Cicero Christian Church for many years, and he has been a member and officer of numerous local non-profit Boards. Mike helped start HOPE Family Care Center and has been active on its Board since its beginning in 2003.

Teacher, Principal, and Superintendent of Schools (Ret.)
Former Indiana State Legislator
Consultant/Advisor – Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA
Tony holds degrees from Anderson, Butler, and Purdue Universities. He retired as Superintendent of Schools from Hamilton Heights. A career highlight was the integration of Ryan White – the first AIDS student admitted nationally without restrictions – into Hamilton Heights High School. During eight years in the Indiana legislature, Tony was Mitch Daniels and Cheri Daniels Community Health Leader of the Year; Indiana Architecture Association Legislator of the Year; Richard Lugar Awardee for outstanding contributions to education and sports; and Indiana Humane Society Legislator of the Year. He was appointed to two state commissions (Civics Education Task Force and Indiana Disability Rights Commission) and Co-Chaired the Trails Caucus.

A long-time advocate of improved access to health care for underserved populations, Pete worked for both the HealthNet Community Health Center network and the Indiana Primary Health Care Association (IPHCA). He also co-founded and managed Ambulatory Innovations, a national consulting and resources provider for primary care providers.

Lacy McGrew, BA, MBA, CPA
Founder/Owner – Calculate Success Bookkeeping and CFO Advisory Services
Lacy has been a CPA for 20+ years, primarily in corporate accounting with large corporations. She holds an MBA from Ball State University and has worked with Ascension Health and Acacia Pharma. Lacy has also worked for, and served on the Boards of, several area non-profits. She is both QuickBooks Pro Advanced Certified, and Payroll Certified.

Katie Koch, BSc, FCAS, MAAA
Consulting Actuary – Lewis & Ellis, Inc.
Katie is a credentialed actuary with 20+ years’ experience in quantitative risk management. She graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Actuarial Science from Ohio State University. Her expertise includes property/liability risk, insurance, and financial reporting. Katie joined the Hope Board in 2022 because she believes in the mission of helping the uninsured and underinsured in receiving essential healthcare services and giving back to her local community. Katie enjoys biking on the Monon Trail and spending time with her family. Her family lives on a small hobby farm in Sheridan.

Heather Hickok, Registered Nurse
Registered Nurse & Case Manager – Franciscan Carmel Orthopedic Hospital
Heather is a Registered Nurse with 25 years of experience in Pre-Anesthesia Testing, Pre-op, Post Anesthesia Care, Medical-Surgical, Critical Care, IV Therapy, Radiology, and Pediatrics, with a focus on holistic care for patients and families. She has served as a Clinical Surgical Navigator, specializing in Total Knee and Hip replacements, leading daily multi-disciplinary meetings and teaching pre-operative joint replacement classes. Since 2021, she has been a Case Manager at Franciscan Carmel Orthopedic Hospital, coordinating home physical therapy and ensuring safe recoveries for patients undergoing Spine, Shoulder, and Total Joint Replacements. Her education includes a Bachelor's in Health Science, Licensed Practical Nurse certification, and ASN and BSN degrees in Nursing.

Client Executive, Commercial Insurance and Risk Management – Hylant Group
Nick holds a BA degree from Oberlin College and an MBA from California State University in Los Angeles. He has worked as analyst, auditor, and sales manager for banks and large insurance companies and is a member of the Indiana Motor Truck Association.

Jeffrey Shively, BA, MA
Automotive Writer & Editor
A writer and avid car enthusiast who owns a number of classic autos, Jeff is also a Board member of the Cadillac & LaSalle Club Museum and Research Center. Jeff Shively is the editor of two nationally recognized automotive publications. Before this, Mr. Shively spent nearly a decade in the museum industry and taught at the post-secondary level.
